Description
Parable of the Prodigal Son Painting by Bertram Poole illustrates return of the son, with father joyfully receiving him. The artwork narrates the story while remaining decorative and containing meaningful symbolic themes such as the play of dark / light as well as poverty / wealth to mention a few. Also notice the sunrise casting an image of The Cross and the prodigal at the foot thereof - which is a good place to start his reconciliation to his father - this is symbolic of the start of every Christian reconciliation to Father! Once I decided to depict this parable, part of my inspiration came from artists who have previously painted the theme.
